So it is fitting that the new Journal from engage (the organisation for visual arts education in galleries and museums), concentrates on the theme of 'marketing' and gallery education. As I trace in my contribution, the techniques long used in gallery education have informed the discipline of audience development to the benefit of both.There are also fascinating insights from Helen Charman at the Design Museum, Elizabeth Fraser-Betts at the October Gallery, as well as from IMMA, the BALTIC and others.
